Get Your Backyard Ready for Barbecue Season

Get Your Backyard Ready for Barbecue Season

Your backyard probably hasn’t gotten the love it deserves over the colder months or this past year at all. It’s time to get your outdoor oasis up to party standard as social gatherings and in-person events make a comeback this summer. Whether you have neglected your outdoor space more than usual with less visitors or are looking to create a space from scratch, here are some tips to turn your backyard into a summer party destination.

Give some extra attention to your lawn and garden

The first thing that guests notice when arriving to your home is landscaping. If your garden is looking a bit tired, it’s time to perk it up and transform it into a welcoming space for guests. Spring is the best time to prune your summer blooming shrubs and the ample moisture right now gives seeds a good start to growth. Take advantage of this by over seeding so that your lawn is green and lush. You can also prep for new plants by clearing weeds and debris from flower beds.

Stock up on yard games

Up your game with cornhole, volleyball, and oversized yard games. There’s no better way to diverge everyone outside for quality time and it’s perfect for entertaining a group of all ages.

Prep the grilling station

It’s not a barbecue without the food. Consider a potluck party where guests each bring dishes to lighten your load. Grilling alone takes a lot of attention, so prepare ahead of time. Clean the grill and make sure you have enough gas or charcoal to keep it going

Consider outdoor upgrades

New lighting, furniture, and an outdoor kitchen can make all the difference in entertaining guests. All of these are investments that add value to your home and help your family enjoy summertime to its fullest. Extra features like fireplaces or covered patios can even make your space enjoyable year-round.

Trendy vs. Timeless Design

Trendy vs. Timeless Design

When building your home, it can be challenging to find the right balance between a trendy and timeless style. Having spent far more time at home this past year, we have already seen many trends come and go as homeowners began to notice details of their house that needed revamping. No matter what type of environment you’re going for, Sitterle can help you choose a style that will stand the test of time.

It is important to recognize that trends are constantly evolving. What really matters is that your home never goes out of style in your mind. Consider timeless designs in areas that could be difficult to change and use trendy pieces for accents and finishing touches. If in two years you decide you don’t like your colorful rug or side chair, these can be relatively easy to switch out. Other items like home exteriors and expensive furniture should stay more neutral to accommodate newer trends easily.

Design Trends in 2021:

Earthy Palettes

It has been a common trend in recent months to accent the home with calming patterns. Where it was previously in style to have white or minimalistic kitchens and common areas, we are seeing more earthy tones like greens, browns, and even yellow bringing in influence from nature. A timeless kitchen could include granite or quartz countertops with soft colors that would mix well with colorful accent pieces.

Multifunctional Spaces

Spending more time at home has made us reconsider the purpose of a room. In extra space, we expect people to be inspired to maximize functionality. Trends here include dual-purpose furniture and smart storage. With the creative help of Sitterle’s design specialist, you will see that no space is too small to serve a bigger purpose.

Texture

Texture is what makes a home feel like it’s lived in. Layers of texture are easy to incorporate into any room and add personality without being too overwhelming. Texture can add dimension through furniture, walls, and more and can include materials like stone, marble, wood, or even velvet. Texturize a space easily with plants, patterned cushions and woven baskets. Architectural touches like crown molding and ceilings with wood planks are small touches that can make all the difference too.

Less Open Floor Plans

It is possible that the pandemic has weakened some enthusiasm for open floor plans. We will likely never completely say goodbye to the concept, but after the pandemic, homeowners discovered a new need for privacy and “zoom-friendly” spaces. Working with Sitterle Homes, you will see creative solutions to find a balance between entertaining and quiet space.

Small Enough to Listen, Big Enough to Deliver

The Sitterle Homes Custom Division is small enough to listen, but big enough to deliver. Our reputation of superior quality homes and nationally-recognized customer satisfaction extends to our custom home division where we provide the peace of mind to ensure your vision is realized. The Sitterle team understands what homebuyers want – a home that fits their individual style. With Sitterle’s Build on Your Lot Program, we create, together, a home that is uniquely yours.

The first step in achieving your dream home is a consultation with our Custom Construction expert. Let us know your wish list for your Build on Your Lot home and an estimated budget. If you don’t have a lot yet, we can even help you secure one. Once you find your dream lot, our experts will meet you there for an assessment. At this point, HOA, permitting, utilities, and services will be discussed as well as any construction concerns. After establishing goals and a budget, we will find a floor plan that works best for you. With a large set of options in our over 250 plan lineup, and the ability to modify them as needed, we have the perfect plan to fit your needs. Next, we’ll work with you to coordinate all filing and approvals prior to building commencement.

When your dream plan has been selected and a final price agreed, you’ll enter into a contract for your custom build! With an appointment at our design studio, you will select interior options and finishes. The Sitterle design studio has options to fit every style and budget. Construction then usually takes about 7 to 9 months from start to finish. Our Custom Construction builder will provide you with a timeline and updates as your custom home nears completion. You are welcome to visit and walk the site as frequent as desired. Upon completion of your new Sitterle custom home, you’ll receive enrollment documents for our warranty program and peace of mind knowing that you’re protected.

Choosing Sitterle’s Build on Your Lot program gives you the cost-saving benefits of working with a production builder with the full freedom to customize plans. We can build any of our floor plan lineups or you can come to us with your own. Regardless of the plan you choose, you can count on Sitterle Homes to deliver a high-quality building experience!
